There are two different implementations :

Shared hosting
This is the most common kind of hosting. You configure a separate directory for each domain. Each domain shares resources with others, including the web server, mail server, and all other key components of the system. Users have a limited autonomy to run theirs applications.
This type of hosting has a number of disadvantages:
